Get closer to nature — keep the hot shower

View from Agate Beach looking east at Tow Hill

Where to park it

Agate Beach — arguably the premier campground on Haida Gwaii

Thirty minutes east of Masset at the foot of Tow Hill, with campsites right on the beach. Hunt agates at low tide, dip-net Dungeness crab in knee-deep water in late June and July, and hike Tow Hill, Rose Spit or the Fife Trail to East Beach straight from your site.

03 · Live-aboard · the Cuxhaven

A floating home for coastline no road reaches

The Cuxhaven is a 40-foot fast trawler, built in 1995 by Independent Shipwrights on Vancouver Island. Most of her hand-laid fibreglass sister hulls work the BC tuna fleet — only a handful were finished as pleasure craft, and we’re proud to own one. Choose local 1–5 day trips out of Masset, or 7–10 day Inside Passage crossings between Vancouver Island, the Lower Mainland and Haida Gwaii.

  • Sleeps four in the forward stateroom (six with the dinette double); day trips carry up to seven
  • Enclosed head with full-size shower, hot and cold running water
  • Bright main cabin, full galley, large BBQ, open and covered decks plus an upper viewing deck
  • Latest navigation and fishing aids, top-of-the-line tackle, satellite radio and telephone
  • Meal packages by arrangement — or live off the catch of the day: salmon, halibut, rockfish, cod, prawns, Dungeness crab

All fishing supplies included except licences (purchase before your trip). For serious anglers, the 18-ft Lifetimer or 24-ft Sea West can be towed along at additional charge. Provincial law permits alcohol only while tied up alongside or at anchor.
